The first time we met was in 2019 at a climbing gym in LA. Annemarie was the social butterfly bouncing around the “bouldering” section, while Grant stuck to the tall rope walls with his best friend, Zack. One day, when Zack and Grant decided to venture into bouldering for the day, Annemarie made the first move by talking to Grant and discussing the best way to climb the route in front of them. Despite having an instant connection, the timing wasn’t quite right.For the next three years, life seemed to keep us out of sync…crossing paths here and there, admiring from afar, but never at the right moment.In early 2020, what we thought was the right timing, ended with the world shutting down due to COVID. So naturally, Grant packed his things up to work remotely from a friend’s cabin in Mammoth sneaking in snowboarding between meetings like the true mountain guy he is. Annemarie couldn’t decide if it was “dreamy” or ridiculous; working remote in the mountains just to snowboard every day, but either way, it got her attention. Life had other plans, though, and a first date never happened. A couple of years (and detours) later, the timing finally lined up. With some encouragement from a classmate, Annemarie mustered up the courange to text Grant asking for “solo hike recommendations” in the Eastern Sierras. Grant caught the terrible “I’m single” hint and asked her out on their first date. From then on, things just clicked.…We spent a lot of time at “Big Red,” Grant’s infamous Playa del Rey house with his then roomates, Zack and Sean, and of course their girlfriends’ Dani and Melissa, as well as the rotating cast of friends who basically lived on the couch. It was chaotic, loud, and full of memories, until we were finally ready for a place of our own. About a year later, we moved into our first apartment together in Playa del Rey, and more recently into a rental house in Torrance, with a new big backyard perfect for a furry friend. Two months in, we added our favorite adventure buddy: our dog, Zero (shhh…don’t tell our landlord 🐾)!Now, between Grant’s job as Director of Finance at Breakthrough Properties and Annemarie’s work as a doctor of physical therapy at iAthlete Physio, life is plenty busy. But our favorite thing to do together is escape outdoors; snowboarding at Mammoth, camping, climbing, surfing, hiking, or taking Zero out on adventures.After a few twists and turns, here we are, ready for the biggest adventure yet: marriage! Thanks for staying for our lengthy “meet-cute”. We can’t wait to celebrate with each of you!

From STS, it’s approximately a 1 hour 15 minute drive (61 Miles) to our venue. <a href="https://www.iflyoak.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Oakland International Airport (OAK)</a>About 2 hours 10 minutes (133 mi) away by car, Oakland is a larger airport with more flight options. <a href="https://www.flysfo.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">San Francisco International Airport (SFO)</a>Roughly 2 hours 20 minutes (140 miles) from the venue, SFO is the largest airport and has the most options.

Rental Car

Renting a car is the most flexible way to reach the venue and explore the surrounding Anderson Valley. All nearby airports—STS, OAK, and SFO—offer a wide selection of rental car companies.

Shuttles & Private Transportation

For guests who prefer not to drive, shuttle services and private car services can be arranged. These provide a stress-free ride directly from the airport to and from The Brambles. Rideshare

Given the remote nature of the venue, we do not recommend relying on rideshare as a primary source of transportation.

Transportation

Our wedding will be in the heart of Anderson Valley (Philo, CA), a place we love for its charm and natural beauty. Lodging is limited and fills up fast, so we recommend booking early! We’ve put together a list of nearby hotels, inns, and rentals to help you find the perfect spot. If you’d like more options, Healdsburg is about 45 miles away, though the drive back can be a bit long after the festivities. Please note that The Brambles and Madrones properties are reserved for the wedding party and immediate family.

The inn features a terrace and barbecue facilities and is conveniently situated right next door to The Madrones &amp; The Brambles, where our wedding venue and wedding party will be. To view the accommodations offerings please go to their main website below.

Indian Creek Inn

The Anderson Valley Inn, located just a few minutes from our wedding venue. Rooms are limited, so we encourage booking early.

Anderson Valley Inn

Located right in the heart of town, the Boonville Hotel is a charming boutique property with an inviting restaurant on-site. Rooms 5–8 may be booked without any dining requirements. For all other rooms, guests are asked to enjoy dinner at the hotel on one evening of their stay (any night except Saturday). With a menu that highlights seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, dinner here is less of a requirement and more of a delicious bonus! Please reserve rooms through their website, we currently do not have a room block so first come, first serve!

The Boonville Hotel and Restaurant

The Knotty Oak is a historic property with multiple homes, perfect for families or groups. Set on 20+ acres with redwood groves, meadows, and creek access, it offers modern amenities in a peaceful setting just minutes from local wineries and downtown Philo. There is no room block here—please book directly with the property or through Airbnb/VRBO.

Don’t let the name fool you—Sheep Dung offers some of the most charming and comfortable cottages in Anderson Valley. Set on oak-covered hills with sweeping views, the pet-friendly homes come with modern amenities and access to trails and meadows, making it a peaceful retreat just a short drive from Philo and local wineries. We do not have a room block here, guests should book directly through Sheep Dung Properties website.

Sheep Dung Estates

For guests looking to embrace the great outdoors, Indian Creek County Park is a perfect option. Just a stone’s throw from The Brambles and The Madrones, this scenic park allows campers and tents and offers a true nature-immersive experience. The park features bathrooms and fire pits, making it convenient for a cozy night under the stars, though showers are not available. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is recommended. We highly recommend this option if you want to enjoy the fresh air, peaceful surroundings, and a memorable, outdoorsy experience during your stay.

Montage Healdsburg is a luxury resort set among vineyards and oak groves. Healdsburg is roughly 1 hour to our wedding venue at The Brambles and only about 15 minutes from Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport. We do not have a room block here—reservations can be made directly with the resort.
